The team BHC DETONO ZAGREB won the most prestigious European championship, EBT Masters that took place on the island of Corfu in Greece.
The only Croatian representative among the top eight European teams won the grand final against the Spanish team Balonmano Playa Barbate with the result 2:0 (23:17, 27:20). This is the greatest result in the club's history.
The team not only went undefeated throughout all five games, but didn't drop a set.
On the opening day Detono conquered all teams in their group (TSHV Camelot, Netherlands; Letenye, Hungary and above mentioned Barbate from Spain) and in the semifinals they defeated Mega Sport from Portugal.
Tomas Ramirez from Barbate won the MVP award and the best goalkeeper was Istvan Jakab from the Hungarian team AXA Budapest.
The women's team AKRP Detono Zagreb also made it through the finals and doing that claimed the title of the second best team in Europe and it's their greatest result ever. They progressed through their group by winning two matches defeating the Spanish Vipren Cadiz and the Hungarian Beach Girls and only just loosing against Flying Kangaroos from Germany in a very tight match. In the semifinals Detono outplayed the Swiss rivals Playadettes without dropping a set (16:13, 13:12). In the final match they played against the Greek home team Avantgarde. Playing against the home team, Detono was the underdog but still played very competitively (16:20, 14:16).
The MVP was Vasiliki Skara, the Greek player and the best goalkeeper was Sylke Fasold from the German team Flying Kangaroos.
