Two days ago EHF published final ranking for the last season. According to this data, we may conclude that men team accomplished the best EBT ranking in club history (5th place). Women team also gain remarkable success. For the first time in the history of BHC Detono Zagreb, they were best Croatian team according to EBT rules.
MEN
Moreover, men team also accomplished direct qualification on the final EBT Masters tournament where all qualified teams will compete for the title of European Champion for season 2008. Date of Masters has been known.Next year in May (30-31) Detono Zagreb will present Croatia on that significant competition. That is brilliant success, especially if it is known that only Spanish clubs are in front of our club (Spain has better organized tournaments with plenty of EBT points, hence their clubs are allways in better position).As for the other teams concern, a nice step forward have done Portuguese beach handballers (especially team Mega sport). In the past season many tournaments were played in Portugal. We hope that they will make an additional effort on national selection too, because we didn’t have a chance to see Portuguese selections for a long time (since European championship that was held in Cadiz 2002).Other teams that qualified on Masters were Axa beach stars Budapest-acquaintances that will defend European champion title; German team Freunde der Sonne (we played with them in Einsiedeln 2007); Hungarian team Letenye will be strong opponent to each team on Masters if they will be complete.For the first time in history one Dutch team qualified directly to the Masters. TSHV Camelot qualified to Masters without any domestic tournament. It is not necessary to represent Spanish team who all Beach handball fans know very well. Barbate will try to regain Champion title because Axa beach stars beat them last year in Masters final. IN the next few days we will try to contact official persons of the qualified teams.
WOMEN
Like men team, girls showed that they have quality to final EBT Masters tournament ekipa. In the overall standings girls occupied 9th place, but, what is crucial is that they are the first Croatian team ranked in front of the other Croatian teams. Hence, they qualified to the Masters directly ( Teams that have the right to participate on final tournament are: Defending champion, wild card team and teams from first six nations according to EBT results). According to the present regulations girls occupied the last place that leads to Masters.Hence, they will also represent colors of Croatia on this prominent competition.
Opposing teams (if there will be no additional changes and list extensions) will be: Euronics Nagyatad (few Hungarian A-selection players headed by goalkeeper Pásztor Rita); German team Flying Kangaroos (a lot of German A-selection players were in this team, and German A-selection is one of the best in the world); Playadettes Luzern will represent Switzerland on this tournament.That is the team that shares many experience-they play together for a long time and they will be dangerous opponent to any team on Masters
Unlike the men’s team, in the women’s competition were more teams that are true mystery. Spanish team Vipren Cadiz qualified on Masters for the first time. It is worth to mention that they were in front of other Spanish teams (like Team G Sol and Malaga) ant that is sufficent reccomendation and warning to the other teams. For the first time in history Czech team Promilky and Portuguese team Tribo do Sol qualified directly on Masters. We will try to find some information about qualified teams and present you each team in the future on our web site.
