European Beach Handball Championship

This week in the Norwegian town of Larvik European Beach Handball Championships will be held for both men and women. Croatian selections, a slightly changed in members of the team, are coming to Norway to defend the gold and silver won at the last European Championship (which took place in 2007. in Misano-Italy).

Yesterday afternoon Croatian expedition landed at the airport 30 km from the capital city of Norway, after which they went to the place of the tournament – city of Larvik. A town of 25 000 inhabitants has a strong tradition of handball and was one of the best European women’s handball teams from this area (Larvik was a participant in Champions League last year). This was certainly one of the main reasons when the organization was awarder to Larvik. Arrival in Norway was without any major problems, but the weather will be one of the greatest difficulties in Norway. Even though it is now summer, temperatures in this region of Norway does not exceed 20 degrees, so weather will have a significant role in achieving favorable results.

The Croatian selection will be represented by the following players: Bumbak, Horvat (RK Dubrava), Šandrk, Biuklić (Sandstorm), Pavelic (KRP Bj), Vojnovic (KRP Long War) Malbašić, Juric, Paradžik (Detoni Zagreb) Rokavec (KRP Let Zeppelin). Coach: Sinisa Ostoić.

Small changes compared to the previous championships are present – the world’s best pivot in the beach handball – Andro Vladušić (KRP Let Zeppelin) (shoulder injury) and Černetić are replaced by two pivots Malbašić and Vojnovic.

“I am very impressed with the call to the selected type of handball in the sand and hope that it will use the opportunity provided by my coach pointed Ostoić” – said fresh pivot Drago Vojnovic.

As for the girls, they also march for the new title with somewhat changed team members. Current European champions will participate in the following composition: Bazzeo, Jug, Vidović Ž., Lovrić, Grebenar, Šamarinec, Bukovina, Vidović J. (all Trešnja klub), Botica (Kamo Sutra) and Tomašić (Detono Zagreb). Coach: Matea Brezić.

So, al we can do now is to wish our selections good results and to try to repeat the success achieved in the last European Championships.

And finally just to mention that all matches from the Court 1 will be carried live via internet streaming and television through the local houses. Internet streaming, as well as all other information related to the European Championship can be found on page www.handball.no.
