Stastical review of the Season 2012-1st part

Upon completion of the sixth year in the club history and because of the fact the new season will begin soon, we decided to make a short review of the past season and remind all players and readers about accomplishments we’ve done in the past year. Our small statistics team arranged all data that we collected from the last season.

Academic beach handball club Zagreb participated on the 7 EBT tournaments in the last year (Einsiedeln, EBT Masters finals Lagoa, Zagreb, Čakovec, Umag, Camelot Tilburg, Balaton open) and on 2 friendly tournaments (Persil Cup 2012, and Karlovac) as well as in Zagreb beach handball league.

Beside the trophies, it is worth to mention all individuals who participated in those events, especially those which helped in tournament organization.

Season began with the tournament in Einsiedeln, which is the traditional place to start with. BHC Zagreb participated with 5 teams on that tounament, which is the first time that our club had the 5 teams in official EBT tournament. Most of those players were 14-15 years old and we hope that they will continue with playing of the beach handball, parallel with the indoor playing. In men’s category the following teenagers participated : Vidaković, Tašler, Bagarić,Ljubičić Hančić, Višnić, Hančić, Dijan, Ostoić, Starešina, Marijan and Babić.
In the girls category the following players participated:
Čović, Janton, Šurlan, Benko, Babun, Ristevski, Ćorić, Gojavić, Ruk, Heraković, Brdovčak, Zver, Romek and Matušek.

The following tournament was in Lagoa. BHC Zagreb won the epic fourth consecutive EBT Title. With that title BHC Zagreb became the only team in Croatia (at the club level) which won the 4 European titles at the row. Before that, basketball team Jugoplastika won the three consecutive titles (1989-1991).
The following players participated in that historical Masters winning: Jurić,Valentaković, Paradžik, Copot, Sošić, Hranilović, Henigman and Totić.
Totić was also pronounced as MVP of the competition and he helped with 44 saves during 5 games which is almost 9 incredible saves per game. Also, Ivan Jurić showed its goal-getter capabilites by scoring 81 goal and his shooting percentage was awesome (85%). On the other hand, our specialist Sošić had 4 assist per game which is also a great result.

In the women’s category, BHC Zagreb also won the second consecutive title, which is a rarity for the women clubs in Croatia.

In girls competition it’s hard to single out anyone, given that the all players gave their best on the field. However it must be noted that Lucija Kelava won the MVP Championships title after scoring the 73 goals during 5 matches. Her realization percentage (75%) was also great, given that she played on the position of the left or right wing. Žgela contributed with her experience, Babun was „Scottie Pipen“ of the beach handball (the best all round player), Milić and Domjančić had the great defensive roles, teenagers Čović and Heraković collected certain amount of the experience and last but not the least-Dandić which scored 5 goals in total, but last 2 she scored in the final match shoot out for the victory. Also Lenard prooved that she is a bi-direction player which will be the leader of the team in the future.

What else to say but to congratulate and wish to repeat these results in the coming season.
Read our next review for three days (23.12.) in which we will mention other tournaments and important roles of players which participated on those tournaments.
