In the men’s competition boys had a little bit harder match, and that is after all, how the world finals with a team that is defending the title should look like. The first set was absolutely dominated by Croatians, but in the second one Brasil was allowed to impose their game, and the second set was lost and the finals ended with shoot out. Our boys got all the goals, Bumbak defended the first shoot-out, and Horvat got last goal ‘for 1’ easily.
World champions in the men’s competition are: Biuklić, Juric, Černetić, Vladušić, Pavelic, Rokavec, Bumbak, Šandrk, Horvat, and Paradžik, with the coach Siniša Ostoić. Our Andro Vladušić was declared the best scorer of the championship.
Overall in the men’s competition:
1. CROATIA
2. Brazil
3. Serbia
We just have to remind everybody that our handball players are not only at the top of the world, but also at the top of Europe – girls are current European champions, while the boys are runner ups, thus proving the power of Croatia in this young, but perspective sport.
And finally, to quote Sportske Novosti, “We are champions in handball, but that is not news, isn’t it?”
